This necklace was in the August/Sept 2011 issue of Step-by-Step wire. Unfortunately it was poorly engineered—it looked great flat but when lifted the pearls fell every which way. I re-engineered both the connector on the pearls as well as the connection between the pearls and the necklace and now it looks as good on as off.
I started with straight 18 gauge wire and made both the jump rings and the chain. I then used purchased headpins to create the faux pearl drops. The clasp is homemade and matches the wire used for the chain. The finished necklace is about 18″ long and has a 3″ extender finished with a single pearl.
